Sunday Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, stated that many young talents in all sports have been identified and that many more will be identified in the future.
In a speech commemorating the country’s independence on October 1, 2021, the Minister stated that these talents will be adopted, harnessed, supported, financed, and exposed to the best facilities, coaching, and training programs possible so that they can become world beaters in the near future.
As a Ministry, we have also launched an aggressive campaign to upgrade our sporting facilities so that our athletes can make the best use of them.
According to Sunday Dare, the football pitches of the national stadia in Lagos and Abuja have been regrassed; because we know that great talents can only be born in an enabling environment, and our infrastructure is critical to creating it.
He further ststed that, in order to ensure that grassroots sports enthusiasts have access to quality sporting facilities, the football pitch at the Daum Township Stadium in Elmira, Katsina State, has been completely rehabilitated and now boasts one of the most modern synthetic AstraTurf pitches in Nigeria.
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development also ensured that sports were classified as a business rather than a recreational activity. We believe that the Nigerian youth will have even more glorious years ahead of them in all of their endeavors.
On behalf of the President, the Minister thanked Nigerians for their support for this administration.
“On behalf of the President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians, I salute your contributions to the Development of our country through Sports and enterprise. Thanks for putting our great”.
Happy Independence Day
